For most of my adult life I have played and sung blues-based music in various settings, fronting my own band, or as part of a co-operative (Pink Torpedoes, Dr Feelgood etc.), or as a sideman in a variety of other bands. As a solo artist, or in a duo or trio setting, I have focussed on laid-back blues-standards or self-penned blues tunes, all with a hint of jazz, whilst my band, The Pete Gage Band, has concentrated mostly on original renditions of classics from the early days of blues music up to the present time.
As regards recorded material, I have invited many musical associates over the years to contribute to my recordings, often playing harmonica, bass, lead or rhythm guitar myself, as well as all manner of keyboards. Most of my recordings are available to download on
In addition to being a musician, I create hand-painted mandalas, based on Tibetan designs with my own westernized style. Each mandala can take up to 60 hours to produce, such is the intricacy of the artwork. I studied graphic design at St Martin's Art College in the 1960s, incorporating this training into the creation my pictures, examples of which are for sale and can be found on this website.
